Discolour’d Floral Games
2016

Discolour’d Floral Games explores the entangled relationship between women and the natural world through
a layered, tactile aesthetic. Drawing on the language of collage and film noir, the series merges rich, saturated colour
with stark black-and-white to create an atmosphere of quiet unease.

Florals loom large, dense, textured, and strange, appearing not as passive ornaments but as sentient forces.
In some frames, they seem to seduce; in others, to consume. The women are caught in a state of becoming,
their bodies entwined with petals and stems as if nature itself is folding them inward. There’s mystery here,
and desire, beauty laced with dread.

The flowers do not simply adorn; they act. They hover in shadow, devour in silence, blur the line between protection and threat.
Are they guardians, or something darker? In this uncanny dance between subject
and bloom, the feminine merges with the feral. Vulnerability becomes power, fear becomes intimacy.
We are left to wonder: are these florals friend or foe?
